Ruppersberger Issues Statement in Support of Impeaching President Trump
(Washington, DC) – Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger has issued the following statement in support of removing President Donald Trump from office:
“Using dangerous rhetoric and false claims of a rigged election over the course of many weeks – followed by explicit directions to his supporters moments before they stormed the U.S. Capitol – President Trump orchestrated a violent siege that resulted in death, injury and insurmountable damage to our nation’s reputation on the world stage.
President Trump is a threat to our national security and a menace to democracy. He must be removed from office now.
Today, with my full support, the House of Representatives will hopefully pass legislation urging Vice President Pence and cabinet secretaries to invoke the 25th Amendment, which would deem the President unable to discharge of his duties. Vice President Pence would assume the presidency.
If the 25th Amendment does not move forward, we should again impeach President Trump. I have signed on as a cosponsor of the resolution beginning impeachment proceedings against President Trump for inciting an insurrection.”
