Ruppersberger Announces New Appropriations Committee Assignments
(Washington, DC) – Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger today announced his return to the House Appropriations Committee for the 117th Congress, where he will serve on the Defense, Homeland Security and the Commerce, Justice and Science subcommittees. The powerful Appropriations Committee is responsible for allocating hundreds of billions of federal dollars each year and conducting critical oversight of federal agencies.
Congressman Ruppersberger has served on the Appropriations Committee since 2015 and previously from 2007-2010. The Committee met today to determine rosters for its 12 subcommittees and elect subcommittee chairs.
“Members of the Appropriations Committee share a tremendous duty to allocate precious tax dollars as efficiently as possible and conduct oversight to ensure it is spent responsibly – beginning tomorrow, when we will receive a briefing on the security failures inside the Capitol complex on January 6,” Congressman Ruppersberger said. “My subcommittee assignments are ideal match-ups for the Second District and Maryland, which are home to dozens of military facilities and thousands of defense, intelligence and cyber businesses that collectively employ hundreds of thousands of Marylanders.
I look forward to leveraging my role on the Committee as best as I can to ensure Marylanders and the citizens of the Second District are represented fairly in Congress’ budget process.”
