Maryland Delegation Members Announce More Than $4.6 Million to Improve Public Transit in Harford and Howard Counties
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin and Congressmen Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, and Kweisi Mfume (all D-Md.) announced awards of $3,437,370 and $1,239,024 to upgrade bus fleets and transportation networks in Harford and Howard Counties respectively.
“Many of Maryland’s workers rely on safe, dependable public transit, including those working on the front lines during this pandemic. These awards will allow Harford and Howard County to upgrade their bus fleets with cleaner, more reliable vehicles so they can better serve the community. We will continue working to expand and modernize transit throughout Maryland,” the lawmakers said.
Funding comes from the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program, which helps replace and rehabilitate buses and related equipment, and construct bus-related facilities, in cities and states across the country.
