Oysters are such an important part of Maryland's rich history, but oysters have been hit hard recently. The Chesapeake Bay's native oyster population is about one percent of what it was at the end of the 19th century. Oysters also filter Bay waters in their search for food.

Congressman Ruppersberger Announces $65 Million for BRAC in Maryland
The funding will pay for road, mass transit, and other important infrastructure improvements near Aberdeen Proving Ground and Fort Meade.
