Free Tax Prep Help
Do you need help with your federal tax return?
IRS-certified volunteers can provide free one-on-one tax preparation help to seniors and other middle-income filers at clinics around the state.
The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly centers are generally available to filers ages 60 and older or who earn $51,000 or less a year. In addition to tax filing, volunteers can answer questions about pensions and retirement. Click here to find a center near you.
Do you need help with your Maryland income tax return?
You can get free Maryland income tax assistance in person or over the phone by contacting the state Comptroller's Taxpayer Service at 410-260-7980 from Central Maryland, or 1-800-MD-TAXES (1-800-638-2937) elsewhere. You can also e-mail your tax questions to taxhelp@comp.state.md.us. Include your name, address and the last four digits of your Social Security number in your e-mail message. E-mail requests for tax forms to taxforms@comp.state.md.us.
